Chief Executive Officer, Chief Investment Officer

Todd Westhus

Todd Westhus is the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer of Olympus Peak.  He has over 22 years of finance and investing experience.  Prior to Olympus Peak, Todd spent 11 years at Perry Capital where he was a Managing Partner, a member of the credit and special situations team, and the investment, risk and firm management committees.  While at Perry, Todd focused on a variety of corporate, structured finance, financial credit and sovereign distressed opportunities from both the long and short perspective.  Prior to joining Perry Capital in 2006, Todd worked at Avenue Capital Group where he focused on corporate distressed opportunities across the capital structure and was also a key member of the trade claims and vendor finance team.  Before Avenue Capital, Todd worked in the investment banking departments of J.P. Morgan Chase and Morgan Stanley where he focused on high yield and acquisition finance.  Todd earned a B.A. from Duke University, majoring in Economics and Biology, and was a member of the Varsity Swimming Team.  Todd remains active at Duke and currently is a guest lecturer at Duke University on investing and other topics.

Investment Team

Matt Englehardt

Matt Englehardt is a member of the investment team of Olympus Peak. He was previously an associate at Perry Capital where he was a generalist, and invested long and short across the capital structure in special situation equities and credit investments. Prior to joining Perry Capital, Matt was a Partner at Royal Capital Management, a long/short value oriented hedge fund with peak assets of over $2 billion. At Royal, Matt was a generalist responsible for generating investment ideas across various sectors and geographies. Matt made over 50 investments in his five years at Royal. Prior to joining Royal Capital in 2008, Matt was an Associate at Bain Capital Credit (Sankaty Advisors) where he primarily focused on the TMT and healthcare sectors in the U.S. and Europe and invested across the capital structure with a focus on credit investments. Matt graduated magna cum laude from the University of Notre Dame in 2005 with a B.B.A in Finance and won the Le Clair Eells Award for outstanding leadership. He was active on campus and was a member of the Men’s Varsity Swim Team, Water Polo Club, and Investment Club.

Laura Temes

Laura Temes is a member of the investment team at Olympus Peak. Before joining Olympus Peak, she was as an Investment Banking Associate at Moelis & Company, where she worked on public and private M&A transactions across various industries. Laura joined Moelis after receiving her MBA from NYU Stern School of Business in 2015. Prior to attending business school, Laura spent 5 years at Perry Capital, primarily covering corporate credit, sovereign credit, and special situations investment opportunities. In addition to Laura’s work on the investment team, she also works on the investor relations side of the firm’s business. Laura graduated from Middlebury College in 2007 with a B.A. in Geography and Sociology. 

Trade Claims Team

Scott Friedman

Scott Friedman is a member of the investment team at Olympus Peak. Prior to joining he was the principal at Scott Friedman Consulting, Inc., a financial services and credit risk mitigation practice. There he provided in-depth credit analysis, financial market insight, insolvency valuation work and credit risk mitigation alternatives to clients. Scott also served as the lead analyst at CRG Financial since the fund’s inception in 2009, and was responsible for analyzing bankruptcy trade claims opportunities. Prior to starting his own firm, Scott was a Vice President in the Trade Claims and Vendor Finance group at Avenue Capital Group. Before joining Avenue Capital, Scott was a Vice President and member of the Senior Management Team at F&D Reports. Scott has also spent time at American International Group and National Westminster Bank US. Scott has served on numerous ad hoc trade claim committees that were instrumental in negotiating greater recoveries for general unsecured claims. He is a frequent presenter on a variety of topics to numerous trade groups. Scott received his B.S. in Management from the Binghamton University School of Management and an MBA in Finance from Pace University Lubin School of Business.

Laura Reddock

Laura Reddock is a member of the investment team at Olympus Peak with over 25 years of bankruptcy industry experience, 20 of which were focused on trade claims. Prior to joining Olympus Peak, Laura worked at Contrarian Capital Management for 18 years where she was a Trade Claims Associate. While at Contrarian, Laura concentrated on all aspects of the trade claims closing process, including due diligence, claims agreement preparation and negotiation, the review of bankruptcy related documents and settlement of transactions. Before Contrarian, Laura was a Legal Assistant with the Bankruptcy and Restructuring group at Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel LP.  In addition to Laura’s work on the investment team, she also works on the legal and compliance side as it relates to trade claim documentation and other compliance related matters. Laura received her B.S. in Economics from the State University of New York at Oneonta.

Leah Silverman

Leah Silverman is the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at Olympus Peak. She was previously at Schulte Roth & Zabel LLP as a Debt Trading Specialist where she represented financial institutions in the purchase and sale of distressed assets in the US and European markets. Prior to Schulte, Leah worked at Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP for over eight years as an Associate, and then Counsel. At Katten her practice focused on hedge fund regulatory matters, as well as the representation of investment banks and hedge funds in the purchase and sale of distressed assets, including commercial bank debt, private securities, post-reorganization proceeds and claims in the US and European secondary markets. Before joining Katten in 2009, Leah spent eight years at Avenue Capital Group where she had multiple positions, including, Assistant Compliance Officer and Vice President of Trade Claims, where she was responsible for sourcing trade claims, rejected lease claims, and put vendor contracts. Leah is a member of the New York State Bar. She graduated from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law with a J.D. in 1998, and graduated from the University of Maryland, at College Park, with a B.S. in Economics in 1992.

Trader

Jay Conte

Jay Conte is a member of the investment team and serves as the head of trading and is a member of the risk management team at Olympus Peak. Previously, Jay was at Perry Capital where he spent 14 years on the firm’s trading desk as Head of Macro and Derivative Trading and eventually as Head Trader. Jay’s responsibilities included execution, analysis, and idea generation for the firm’s fixed income, currency, interest rate, commodity, and derivative investments and hedging strategies. Prior to Perry, Jay was a co-founding partner of Bessent Capital where he served as Managing Director and Head of US Equity and Macro Trading. Jay began his career at Soros Fund Management and spent 8 years as a trader on the Macro desk. During his tenure, Soros was the world’s largest hedge fund with assets peaking at $22 billion. Jay graduated from Rhodes College with a BA in Economics and was Captain of the men’s soccer team.

Financial Operations

Joseph Barillaro

Joseph Barillaro is the Chief Financial Officer of Olympus Peak. Prior to joining Olympus Peak as Controller in 2021, he worked for BC Partners within their newly launched business, BCP Credit. While at BC Partners, Joseph developed accounting, operations, treasury and financial reporting, working closely with all members of BCP Credit, including compliance, investor relations and the investment team. Before BC Partners, Joseph was a Controller at Wingspan Investment Management, where he was responsible for internal and external reporting, regulatory reporting, treasury and financing. Before Wingspan, Joseph worked as a Vice President at Highbridge Capital Management for 10 years, where he was responsible for infrastructure development, performance reporting and financial reporting. He began his career at Salomon Smith Barney. Joseph graduated cum laude from Plattsburgh State University of New York with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting.

Melanie Bowen

Melanie Bowen is the Director of Human Resources and the Office Manager at Olympus Peak. She was previously at Perry Capital for five years where she was the Executive Assistant for the Special Situations Credit team, as well as worked with both Co-Founders. Prior to Perry, Melanie was the Office and Project Manager for Blue Flame, an event marketing company based in Norwalk, CT. Before joining Blue Flame, Melanie spent three years as the Office Manager and Administrative Assistant for Spencer Capital Management, LLC. At Spencer Capital, she was responsible for all aspects of the office including expenses, investor relations data and research. Melanie graduated from the University of Miami in 2004 with a Bachelors of Science in Film, a Bachelors of Arts in Theatre and a Minor in Business Administration.

Leon Frohlich

Leon Frohlich is the Director of Operations at Olympus Peak. Prior to joining Olympus Peak, Leon worked as a trading assistant at Apollo Asset Management, where he focused on a wide range of liquid and illiquid credit oriented investment strategies.  Before Apollo Asset Management, Leon was Head of US Operations for Silver Ridge Asset Management where he was responsible for all aspects of the firm’s daily operations, including trade workflow, trade affirmation, trade settlement, cash management, KYC onboarding, and new product approvals.  He was also a member of the firm’s valuation and risk committee. Before Silver Ridge Asset Management, Leon worked in middle office operations at Fortress Investment Group and International Fund Services.  Leon graduated from Boston College with a dual Master degree in Business Administration and Finance. Leon received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Leon also holds a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) financial designation.

Stanley Maziarz

Stanley Maziarz is an Operations Associate at Olympus Peak. Prior to joining Olympus Peak, Stanley worked within the operations department at Goldentree Asset Management, focusing on leveraged loan, high yield and equity settlements. Before Goldentree, Stanley spent 5 years at Brigade Capital Management in the Bank Debt Operations group. His primary responsibilities included both par and distressed settlements, TRS financing, and loan restructurings. Additionally, he provided operational support to the CLO portfolio management team for trustee reconciliations and compliance reporting. He began his career at JP Morgan Chase within the North American loan syndications operations team. Stanley graduated from Elizabethtown College in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in International Business and a concentration in Finance. He also studied abroad in Tokyo, Japan at KCP International.
